Overview

CAN-IMMUNE can be queried from Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Once connected, you can ask about genes, cell lines, tissues, cancer types, mutations and cached MHC-I binding predictions in plain language. Access is read-only.

Streamable HTTP. No sign-in needed; signing in with Google gives a higher rate limit.

Setup
  • Claude (claude.ai): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL above.
  • Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http canelib https://canelib.erc.monash.edu/mcp
  • ChatGPT (Pro developer mode, Business or Enterprise): Settings → Connectors, then add the URL. The search and fetch tools are provided for ChatGPT.
  • Other MCP clients (Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, etc.): add the same URL as a Streamable HTTP server.
Available tools
ToolDescription

search_genes, get_geneFind a gene and get its summary
get_gene_mutationsMutations recorded in a gene
search_cell_lines, get_cell_lineFind a cell line and get its summary

Example questions
  • Search CAN-IMMUNE for BRAF and summarise its mutations.
  • What are the top mutated genes in MDA-MB-231?
  • How many mutations and peptides are in the database?
  • Which cancer types have the most mutations?
  • Show the cached MHC binding for peptide FLDGNQIVT with HLA-A*02:11.
Usage and limits

The connector cannot modify any data. Queries return at most 100 rows and have a time limit. Anonymous use is allowed at a lower rate. If you sign in with Google, academic email addresses (.edu, .edu.au, .ac.*) get the highest limit and other verified addresses a standard limit. Only your email address is read, to set the limit, and it is not stored.

Data come from COSMIC, DepMap/CCLE and published neoantigen studies. If you use CAN-IMMUNE in your work, please cite it.
